Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach
Brad Iftner has been hired to serve as the head coach for the men’s and women’s tennis programs for the Bearcats. Iftner joined the Bearcats' coaching staff in June 2017.
Iftner has more than a decade of head coaching experience at various levels. His most recent stop came at Lindenwood University-Belleville, where he guided the Lynx to a No. 3 finish in the American Midwest Conference standings. The Lynx enjoyed a nine-win improvement from the 2016 season under Iftner’s leadership while finishing third in the final AMC standings.
Prior to his time at Lindenwood-Belleville, Iftner spent three years as the head tennis coach and director of athletics at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Ga. Iftner led the SCAD women’s program to a 10-3 record in 2011, going undefeated against NAIA opponents. The Bees also moved as high as No. 18 in the NAIA Women’s Tennis rankings in 2012. On the men’s side, Iftner guided SCAD to an NAIA top 40 ranking in 2012. Five players from the Bees’ roster were ranked among the top 50 singles players and top 25 doubles players in the NAIA as well.
Iftner also led the Cumberland University men’s and women’s tennis teams for one season, leading the Bulldog women to an NAIA top 25 ranking in 2009. Iftner first gained head coaching experience by leading the men’s tennis program at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale for four seasons. He took over a five-win program and engineered a turnaround that resulted in consecutive double-digit win campaigns. Iftner’s 1999 squad produced 14 victories to mark the Salukis’ first winning season in more than a decade. Iftner began his coaching career as an assistant at Purdue University, where he also helped serve as the tournament director for the 1996 Big Ten Men’s Tennis Team Championship.
